Major Moscow's Assaults Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Several individuals were hurt while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered disruption to drinking water, according to municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a young boy was fatally injured in a distinct aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has increased assaults on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has demanded "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in delivering air defence systems and applying restrictions," he wrote in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were striving to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles struck energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A young boy died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults come after nights of bombing campaigns in the region, parts of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

The entire country is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to demolish the national power system, with strikes already disrupting energy systems.

Officials stated energy workers and authorities were preparing for further attacks.
